Akira or Macros plus whats the best!

What is the best Akira or Macros plus.

 

ummm.....akira......macross.......akira........macross plus......akira....macross plus!

For this one I had to go with Macross Plus as the better anime. The feel of Macross Plus was so cool and I really liked the music in it and the giant mecha's. Akira I found was a bit too freaky, the music kind of was off... but I liked the animation effects that they used in it, it almost seemed like slow motion or something (like the effect I find PS2 games give off).

Overall I chose Macross because I'm a fan of the series and Plus was well done.

Im shocked that theres any deliberation, its Akira all the way, kids. (Macross is nice though.......)

 

I personaly think Macross plus is better but Akira is awsome but a bit overdone in some parts if you know what i mean.

 

I first saw Macross Plus subbed a few years ago when a Chatham video store had it available for rental ... then those cretins sold all there anime to some lucky oaf ... I saw it later on tv, but it was dubbed. At any rate, I didn't like it too much. Everything was just too big.
Akira, on the other hand, is not only one of my favourite anime movies, but is one of my favourite movies of any kind.

 

I think akira was the better one .
Macross plus didn't have enough action in it so i was a little dissapointed after watching that one .
Especially after watching the far superior gundam 0083 stardust memories series.
Not to mention the berserk animes which are the best ever of course.

 

Both are great Anime's.. But im going to say that i like Macross better just because its replay value. I find that Akira once you see it once that you can't watch it again for a long time without falling asleep..

And I love the battle at the end of Macross!

Akira was great. Macross Plus even greater. And I have to agree with KaMeKaZi about the replay value of Macross Plus over Akira. When ever I have nothing to new to watch Macross Plus tends to be the DVD I play again.

On a side note does anyone know when the Movie Edition of Macross Plus is supposed to be out? Last I saw it said May 28, but we are well past then and I still haven't seen it.

 

Movie adition for the DVD.. not sure when it is coming out..

I like the final fight in the movie better then the eps because guld dies a cooler death.

i know ive only seen pieces of that fight tho i wanna see the whole thing. And i heard they added a new Sharon Apple performance in too.

 

Yep, they did do a new death for Guld and a new Sharon Apple concert.

And the Movie Edition is awesome.

Anyway, whats best? Akira or Macross Plus?

I don't really prefer one over the other. They're different genres. Macross Plus is a space opera, Akira is a gritty apocalyptic cyber-punk story.

I watch both at least once a month, actually.

Both have excellent animation (especially for their respective times of production), the music in both is great (although Akira is not going to float everyones boat with its music), and the stories are excellent, although Akiras story is a bit muddied due to trying to fit lots of stuff in.

 

I'll have to go with Macross. It had a certian feeling that I didn't get from Akira.

The music is astounding!
The charcters are well thought out and amazingly drawn.
The mechs are breathtaking! The fight sceens had me on the edge of my seat!!!
Macross Plus is one of only a few movies that have ever made me cry...It was soooo sad and heartbreaking...but funny and sweet too!
Gah, I love it!
Akira confuzzled me...dun like it...

Well,I placed my vote.It pretty obvious what I voted for.(points at his name)I havent seen Macross Plus so I cant say anything about it.


I can say though its really up to your preferences,if you like mecha anime,you may want to go for Macross Plus,if you like cyberpunk anime you may want to go for Akira.It's up to you really.

 

i liek both of them equally, i think there both pretty good, altho i would like to buy macross plus on dvd, havent gotten nuff money tho, i did record it awhile ago on the action channel, i cant find my tape of it tho, it sucks

 

I seen the digitaly remastered version of Akira.. and its amazing what they did..

its like watching an oldschool anime.. with amazing art..

its a must see..
