    The nominations are in and it's finally underway! In the coming weeks, the top suggested anime and manga characters from the M2A community will square off here on the boards. Who has the strength, appeal, or popularity to make it all the way as M2A's top character of 2004? We'll have to see.

    Each matchup will take the form of a poll. Everyone has a week per matchup to decide which character should be the victor before the next matchup appears.

    But enough babbling! Let's see the history making first two contenders for M2A Animanga 2004. :)

    In this corner...

    We have a veteran who's been around for a number of years now, crossing as far as the Americas to make an appearance on station airwaves as part of an anime that took hold of kids galore.

    Whether we're calling it Pocket Monsters or Pokemon, this electric rat carries enough voltage in his cheeks to keep the huggles at bay from his cute appearance. Electric yellow, quick, but unable to say anything but his own name...

    Pikachu!


    And his challenger...

    You'd be hard-pressed to find someone more honest, kind, or virtuous in any way. Brought to earth in accordance with a wish, this beautiful goddess is nearly perfect in every respect - which you would expect from a celestial being.

    From Aa! Megami-Sama/Oh My Goddess, we have the amazing....

    Belldandy!

    This here's a wonderful matchup folks. A goddess versus an animal that packs quite a jolt. How do you see this fight playing out, and who is worthy to continue?

    Alright, first vote! I guess that's fitting. :) Well, I don't know too much about Oh My Goddess!, but I guess any goddess packs a good punch. Still, since I was addicted to pokemon when it first came out and I've seen Pikachu topple pokemon hundreds of times as big as him/her/it, I gotta give it to Pikachu.

    Belldandy vs Pikachu eh? kinda hard for me to decide, Belldandy without a doubt has more strength than Pikachu, but judging from Bell's personality, i highly doubt she'd be able to hurt such a cute little rodent.
    But i say Belldandy. My vote goes to her.

    Well, Belldandy does have a hard time hurting cute animals. However, Pikachu isn't going to hurt someone who isn't trying to hurt him. Furthermore, Belldandy could probably charm Pikachu (like she seems to do with most if not all animals) with no trouble at all. Pikachu is Belldandy's pet inside 10 minutes, and Belldandy is happy she resolved the fight without violence.

    pikachu is way better, belldandy is a pain in the butt, shes sweet but boring, and keeps bringin trouble to poor keichi, so my vote goes to pikachu, a loyal friend, good fighter, cute and best of all, it can be carried in your pocket. (and yes, im aware that in the series pikchu wont enter in his pokeball...but in the game he does :p)

    Totally unfair!!! Pikachu has NO chance against the powers of a Goddess.

    Match:
    Household rodent with a short fuse versus an elite Goddess.

    Going for Belldandy. Reason? Not because I am an Aa! Megami-sama fanboy, it's her way to solve anything without violence...than again if Pikachu did a thunderbolt to hurt Keiichi...;)
