There's going to be an anime showing this Friday, 24.01.2003
We'll probably be showing 2 different things from 5pm to 9pm
Anyone can attend, and entrance costs €1 if you're not a member of DUCSS yet.
It'll probably take place in Hamilton H5... here's a map to find it:

Haven't decided yet what to show... DL keeps suggesting FLCL, which could be good (consists of 6x~25min episodes). Maybe we could also show some live-action asian movie. Please post suggestions if you have any.
We'll probably be using Mordeth's laptop to hook stuff onto the projector, so please be there Mord :)

    Check back for updates...

Edit: DL was nice enough to make an FLCL poster: (I think he really wants us to show FLCL :))

Hellsing isn't all that great I reckon. The first couple of eps are pretty cool, but it doesn't go anywhere amazing. Animation is seriously dodgy at times too. It really doesn't comapre to the oustandingness of FLCL.
And mord, I'll come after you if you're not there. I know where you live.

Hellsing is pretty cool for the 1st half but (prepare for superb pun), it goes to hell towards the end.
It really just gets annoying and (for me anyway), made feck all sense.

FLCL is truly brilliant. They squeeze as much, or more, into 6 eps as many other animes would put into 26(*ahemnoir*). Confusing is good, it'll weed out those not pure at heart. Look, I made that ****ing poster(sort of), so they're ****ing going to show FLCL.

even though I shan't be attending. I recommend Furi Kuri to anyone who hasn't already seen it, and to those who have...watch it again and be happy. :)

You may be confused at first..but by episode 4 onwards you'll be hooked!

P.s. sweet Poster DL..who did the colouring of the manga? Yourself?

Hmmm.. I don't know about FLCL. 'Tis a wonderful show 'n all but doesn't anyone want to try something new, or considering how much anime most of you watch, something less than half of you all have watched. Perhaps as kenshin mentioned we might show some asian movie or other.

There's a whole world of cool asian **** out there people.

On a not wholely unrelated matter, I've just finished watching a japanese movie called Audition and man, is it one mother****ing ****ed up movie. Well for the last half hour or so at least. Anyone with an aversion to needles and said items being inserted into people(eyes and ****) may never want to check this one out. It's pretty cool all the same.

As for the anime I don't really mind what is shown. I watch most things multiple times (FLCL I've seen four times, maybe five) so I'll get something out of whatever is shown. Just thought people might want to check out something new is all.

I'm sure between us all there is something we have that most others may not have seen before anime or otherwise. Anyone heard of the Samurai trilogy of movies, Toshiro Mifune anyone.

Movie where they stick needles into people's eyes? I think I'll pass :)
I dont really mind what we show... as long as it turns out to be fun :)
There's been a certian demand for FLCL so maybe it's time to show that... we might have some time left to show something else that's pretty short. Mordeth suggested an episode of Ebichu the House Keeping Hamster to finish things off, might be a fun thing to show :)

It was Bloodberry who did the colouring(notice if you will the bottom right corner), and yes it is a very cool CG job. I did, uh... the other stuff though... Yup.
So it's setteled, we're showing ****ing FLCL. Grand.

Well that was a grand old time. FLCL was ****ing brilliant. Brilliant. I'd be interested to hear what the uninitiated thought of it though. Because it really was brilliant.
Samurai was slightly dodgy, but I noticed refferences to it in anime I'd already seen(like Cowboy Bebop "Call me Mushashi"). At least I think I did.

I'm not sure the references in anime you've seen relate directly to the film.

The film was the first of three movies about the life of the legendary japanese samurai Musashi Miyamoto, each a direct continuation of the last. I don't know though, I thought the film was ok with the exception of the music, which I really hated, it didn't fit with the period at all and so it made the film for me seem kinda weird. It was a traditional japanese film with 1930's Hollywood type music.

Earlier today I watched the second and third films and they were pretty good but still the music is really hard to get past.

Meh, either way Toshiro Mifune is cool.

And yes FLCL was ****ing brilliant. I enjoyed it more this time than any of the previous five or so other times I've seen it.
