Cowboy Bebop Are Spike and Faye Asians?

Despite their names, they still resemble asians. I mean spike looks far too similar to Bruce Lee to call it a coincidence. And i believe somewhere in the manga comics Faye is described as an asian beauty or something like that. Can anyone confirm if they are both asians?

 

Well,Spike was born on Mars,but is of Chinese desent.And all I can remember about Faye is that she's from Earth.She's probably Japanese though.Seeing as how she wore traditional Japanese style clothes,and the fact that she just looks Japanese.

 

I think Faye said that she was a Gypsy or Romany(sp?) or something...

It is very confusing, but since I don't really thik it's relevant to the series I really don't care.

 

Faye's not Japanese that's for sure, and i highly doubt she's asian... Japanese girls aren't that agreesive, they're pretty quiet, demure and shy. That's Japanese, and quite a few asian countries follow that..
honestly she seems more American, she's sexy, seductive, like an american woman... and she seems pretty confident.

 

You're 100% sure about that?Have you seen the episodes "Speak Like A Child" and "Hard Luck Woman"?The places she visits hardly seem like America.And look at her friends and style of clothes.I can't say I've seen too many Americans dressed like that.

and what if all you need to know is that fayes from earth? i guess she could be asian though... but i think she could also be american... the scenery's kinda american... but ive never been to japan so oh well... :dizzy2:

 

Well Spike was in the Red Dragons which is described as a Chinese Mafia group, and I don't think Mafia groups usually let in people outside of that little detail. Though it could be different for this. :-o

 

Like Most anime the characters dont look asian.. Normaly cause the japanese like to use westren/european models for there characters..

But it does not realy matter if they are asian or not.. cause its just an anime..

anyway yes asian women are on the quiet side and such...but remember this is far in the future when countries really doesnt exist anymore...i mean there places like Mars and other planets Ganymede, but i think that all decent and ancestory was lost in the gate accident i mean look at Faye all her information was lost so its hard to say what happened or where shes from but i say she seems quite asian and besides when an asian is brought up in a more "american" way they change a lot...my sister was like that...she started out quiet until she learned English and now shes just a bit*h....

 

Faye's eyes and eyebrows look rather asian to me... they seem more 'widthy' which people might conclude to be typical chinese or japanese. But since it's set quite far into the future it is all unrealistic.

I mean most, in fact all asians in current day have black hair... assuming that Faye didn't dye hers (which I doubt she did seeing that her childhood hair was like that) she might not be asian... then again it's set in the future and Spike's green hair and Ed's red hair all seems to be in the genes.

I's debatable but it really makes no difference... it was a great anime... then be it.

 

Bebop is supposed to be American pop culture through a Japanese lens, so it's very well that many of them are American. Right?

Spike... could be Asian I suppose. But Faye is definately America, like you guys covered. Her personality is waaay off from being a Japanese girl and her clothes too... I mean, when will you ever see a Japanese woman wear something so skimpy? Never!

 

well as ive said this is set so far in the future that you cant really tell what went on...through her memories she seems to have been brought up in a somewhat japanese-american way...notice she wears a traditional school girls uniform, more or less but she lives in what seems to be a very large western style house...so in the end its hard to say....i guess in the new culture that she found herself in she adapted in a way that she could get things done...

 

Spike's last name is obviously German, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Faye grew up in Singapore, but I guess that doesn't necessarily mean anything either.

From how they looked, I assumed he wasn't asian and she was. Dunno
