OK, does anyone remember the episode in which Ed stays up for several days playing a game againts "The Master" I believe they called him, (but I'm not positive, corect me if I am wrong) and Ed ends up beating him?

Anyone have a theory as to why "The Master" died? I haven't got a clue! It all seemed kind of pointless to me that he died, but I'm sure that there was a good reason for it, possibly kept the story flowing? Not sure, but that is my theory.

If anyone else can help me out, it would be greatly appriceated.

    Thank you for your time

the master are you talking about the chess player?

if you are i think he died(if he died cant really remember) was because he was just old and he finaly got beaten at the game

I'm pretty sure he died of old age, or heart failure, or some other "old person" ailment. I think maybe he was holding his strength for one last really good chess match..and Ed was there for him! Kind of a really sweet and sad episode if you think about it.

    Chessmaster Hex!!
    He died of old age.
He died when his winning streak was over, it's symbolic. Not too deep, though, he wasn't necessarily an important character by any means, but he was ANCIENT.

I think too that the man died of old age. Cause no one killed him and he did not react like he had a heartattack or anything like that.
And one more thing. Chessmaster Hax(something like that) defeated Ed. Not the the other way.

I guess I can agree on HanyouInuYasha post.

i think he died b/c he was sattiasfied with the life he had and that his final moments was playing the game he loved more then life itself..so when he won against his hardest oponent...he was sattisfied and he felt that he had accomplished enough in life...so he let himself die it was from old age of course but he let himself slip away...he died happier then he had ever been before...at peace...makes me want to cry...literally...lol
