I went to Toronto this month and was disgusted at the prices of anime there. I went to a mall and prices for anime DVD's ranged from $35-$55 Canadian. Episode volumes on DVD (usually only 3 episodes) remain around $50 Canadian.

In the US, the most I have seen a DVD movie or episode DVD for is $35 US. This is in an expensive mall store. You can go to Wal-Mart or Best Buy and get DVD's for around $15-$20 US. The exchange rate of US to Canadian currency isnt really that differnt, so these prices are horrible.

Are the prices for anime like this all over Canada, or just Toronto? If they are like this all over Canada, I would just like to extend my apologies towards Canada. The demand for anime in Canada must be high, or anime must be difficult to get, or maybe Canadians are bigger Capitalist pigs than we are

I went to best buy in London On. and their dvd volumes range from 20-30 dollars. Amazon.ca has good prices on dvds as well and shipping is free over 39 cdn I believe. anyways It was cheaper for me to get the rest of my Noir at Best Buy this weekend.

I suppose internet shopping will be easier. Even in America its usually easier, but sometimes you just want to go into a store, browse around and bring something home for less than $50. I hope anime becomes easier to come accross (in retail stores) in Canada. The more fans the better :anime:

well, I saw OMG (Ah Megami sama!) in Walmart volume 1 for 20 cdn. I was shocked. but BestBuy is a cool store. It has lots of anime boxes and dvd volumes. Too bad I didnt wait for my Lodoss tv dvd set because it was 66 dollars there. London used to have another store that sold dvds but its was a 45-50 dollar price range and theres cinemaone in the malls.(expensive too) If you have a BestBuy nearby check it out. Millenium Actress was a good deal there as well.

I agree. I love Best Buy. They have great prices and are one of the only stores I can find with DVD box sets. I love simply going in and looking around. When I travel I love going to Best Buy because they all carry such diffenent inventory. Its kind of like Christmas :anime:

I really hate the Canadian dollar...not having a credit card, I do have to go to a store to buy my anime. Being Canadian, this can really get expensive. I paid 60$ for Gundam Wing Endless Waltz Special Edition on DVD. Granted, it was at HMV, which is always overpriced, but you get the picture...

I suppose it's not so bad everywhere, but I've yet to find a good place, although I did get Princess Mononoke for $24 at Futureshop!
