Manga Ring Project Character Discussion: Minato

I think for Minato he should have a few close friends. Besides Satomi.

He should also have a rival. His rival pushes him hardier then most people would. When push comes to shove he shoves hard when his rival is near.

Bullies always are great in the spicing of things up. They would make good rivals. Also, does the introvercy come from a distinguished hobby or personal experience? From the daydreaming in class, I assume he isn't a bookworm.

 

I really like this one the best but in a different way. His rival thinks he has the short end of the stick but really doesn't. He doesn't realise Minato works hard at what he does too. Even though Minato doesn't show it.

The rival is jealous of Minato and Satomi. So far I think it was brought up that he likes Satomi and Minato of course is dating her. He could also think that Minato wins at everything even though when they play sports or something and he beats Minato. Minato still has Satomi. Most people who have rivals are jealous at the other for some reason.

I think do to Minato's persona Minato really doesn't win too many times against his rival. Maybe the only time he won against his rival was dating Satomi. Now that Ein is in him. He starts to win more against his rival and like it. It would play off the idea of Minato liking Ein around and Ein hating it.

We should get into Minato's family. And Minato's rival family.

Suggestion #1 One of them should be from upper class. I was thinking the rival. Minato's family not having to much money couldn't really afford all the things normal kids can do. He could be a little embarassed by this. That is why he is a little drawn. He can't hold great parties like his rival can. The school dances or a country club dance Minato couldn't really afford to go too. Satomi has always stuck by him and that could be one of the reasons he is so fond of her.

Suggestion #2 Minato is from upper class. Everything comes easy for him except friends. He doesn't care to much for his families money. He has a few close friends because most use him for his money. One reason why he is a little shy is cause he doesn't trust very well. He developed a crush on Satomi and when they started dating Satomi said she could careless for his money that could be a reason he is so fond of her.

Suggestion #3 Both are from upper class. Minato doesn't care to throw money around because people used him before for his money. His rival does throw money around and could care less if people used him. His rival just wants alot of friends and never feel alone.

Of course his rival and him had to be friends at one time. I think that is how it goes. Well, it was like that to me and my rival.

I agree that Minato should have some type of hobby or activity. He could be involved in a sport or class with his rival.

I believe that family proposal number 3 is the only one that could make rival proposal number 2 work well. Family 2 could work well too, but then there would be no real reason of rivalry, only cruelty. Family 3, though, they are peers and thus can compare themselves to each other.

 

Hmm. I never thought of it that way.

I think it is important to just imply who Minato family status is like they do in other Mangas. Your family doesn't determine who you are but they do help shape you into the person you want to be. We can just imply his family staus by what his home is. In Yu Gi Oh manga Kabia's status is stated. I have seen others where it is implied.

I was thinking Minato chould be in a sport or club. Maybe soccer? tennis? chess? I think chess would be to much work for Minato. Soccer too. Tennis is a maybe. How about Ping Pong? or whatever it is called.

 

Well, the thing is, if you actually want the rival to be jealous of Minato getting everything handed to him despite the same work, they have to be at same positions - 3 gives them both nobility, though I doubt they'd even think of working. Much better to think both of them as middle-class people.

As for hobbies, I don't know. He could be in everything, but remember, playing in sports do bring along a good amount of popularity in real life, and we want to stray away from the popularity scale if you want Minato to be at the social position in school you describe him as being in.

 

Actually jealousy has many forms. Not just because of money maybe they both are the same but Minato's family is closer to him then his rival's family is close to his rival. For some reason I want the rival to have a name.

You can still be in a sport and not have a lot of friends do to lack of involvement with peers. Minato is timid. He isn't very confident in his self. But I think if he is involved in a lot of sports he would have a lot of friends.

I think Minato should have a mom. It would be great to see how Ein reacted to such a hot babe. I can just picture. Minato/Ein arrive at home. "Minato is that you?" says a lady. Ein thinks/says to only Minato, "Who's look at the babe." Minato says to Ein, "What babe are you talking about?" Ein in control walks over to Minato's mom. Grabs her and places her in his arms. "Helloooo baby." Bends over. "I have never seen something as sweet as you." Ein kisses her. Minato says "OMG you just kissed my mom." Ein is like "huh?" and Minato takes over and drops his mom. He thanks "ahhhh. I'll have nightmares for a month." He starts to spit up trying to get rid of the kiss. Minato's mom "Minato what has gotten into you?" Minato says "Ah nothing." and he walks away. Minato thinks "Don't ever do that again." Ein thinks "What your mom is hott." Minato thinks "Just shut up."

I think we do have a good personality going for him. Along with a ton of good drawings.

Should Minato have any other family? I was thinking of a nosey little sister. She could try and find out what is going on with Minato/Ein. His dad should be a business man always away. His father could be the type that isn't around much. It could be part of the reason why he is a social outcast.

 

Okay after reading this thread a while ago, i was thinking about it last night when I got an idea. I just felt I should probably suggest it because I think you guys might like it too...

What if one of Minato's closest friends is a cross dresser? That struck me as a funny situation for when Ein is in control and he sees this friend dressed up a girl, and maybe starts hititng on him and his utter shock when he finds out she's a he.

And excuse me please. i wish to help out with the project and am currently pming Suzu. But even then so, I wish to give my opinion on this cause I figured you might like it. ^^;

 

I like it. Most manga are more open anyway. It will add more laughs to this manga.

Another friend of Minato could be a nerd. So Ein makes fun of him and Minato has to apologize later.

 

I like the idea of a nerd.

Would these two friends of Minato's (cross dresser and nerd) know about Ein? Or would they over time? Maybe they suspect something.

I also think it'd funny if they picked on Minato about Satomi. Like all good friends do.

 

At first they shouldn't. High school is hard enough without your friends knowing you have someone in your head. They should suspect something and then when Minato is talking to Ein out load figure it out. Maybe Ein could prove it by using his powers.

I think it would also be great for Ein to make Minato freak out for laughs. All of a sudden the answers change on his test.
