Inu-Yasha Did you ever notice?

Remember the flashback where Naraku tricks Inuyasha and Kikyo? Kikyo was taking the jewel to Inuyasha and Naraku disguised as Inuyasha wounded her and took the jewel with him. After Naraku tricked Inuyasha by disguising himself as Kikyo, Inuyasha went to the village and stole the jewel. If Naraku had took the jewel with him then why was it in the village temple too? Did Naraku take it back to the village as part of his plan?

 

The reason the jewel was in the village when Inuyasha went to steal it was because Naraku put it back for him to steal, probably in the guise of Kikyo just to make things look convincing. See, Naraku is not what we'd call a sane, well-balanced individual, and he wanted to have the jewel tainted by Kikyo's hate and despair before taking it for himself. Of course, the fact that she decided to die and take the jewel with her kinda put a kink in that plan....
