Inu-Yasha Does anyone else here think that Kagome is completely useless?

My friend and I both think that the series could do without her. All she does is get in the way and scream, INUYASHA! at the slightest sign of trouble. And it's her fault that they're collecting the shikon shards anyway. Had she been a good shot and killed the crow demon thing cleanly instead of whacking the jewel, they never would have had to go and look for all the shards!!!

 

Well, if that happened, there wouldn't be much of a series, would there? After all- they'd have no reason to go adventuring finding everything, they'd never meet any of the friends they make, countless people they've helped would never have succeeded or been saved, just because they had to hunt down the shards.

And that's no fun.

Apart from the fact that she makes the whole series even happen, I wouldn't call her useless. Sure, she doesn't fight as much as the others, but that doesn't instantly make her useless. Her insight has proven helpful on more than one occasion, she's helped people by taking care of their wounds or getting them to safety.

Just becuase you're not fighting all the time doesn't mean you're useless.

 

Also she is the one how finds the shard pieces... and just cause she doesnt fight (cause if she wanted to she really could) doesnt mean that she shouldnt scream. Wut would u do if u were in her position??

 

Bah you always need a main women in a anime. Who doesnt want a girl in thier anime? Who doesnt have a girl in there anime!

What would the point of this certain anime be if she didnt shoot the jewel.
I notice how your name is Inuyasharules4 ever 14 well if she wasnt around your name would be Inuyashasucks14. because if it wasnt for her Inuyasha would be what he is today. and he would probably be stuck on that tree still

 

Sankyuu guys for defending Kagome for me before I had a chance to get online and do so ^^ (haha, j/k... I know you didnt do it for me xP).

Anyway, Ragnarok pretty much said everything that I would have said. Might I also add that blaming her for the shattering of the jewel is pointless, because really, what could you expect from her? It was one of the first times she'd ever picked up a bow and arrow, and given the intensity of the situation... I'm proud of her for taking a shot at all. If she hadn't, who knows what could've happened? Besides, even if she hadn't missed, Naraku would have eventually made some attempt to steal the jewel anyway, or Inuyasha would've made a stupid wish... you remember how he was at the beginning of the series. Kikyou's gravesite would've been desecrated either way, and without the possibility of destroying Naraku and lifting his curse (with the help of the rest of the group), Miroku would've fallen victim to the hole in his hand. The only one who might have been spared some sort of tragedy is Sango (and possibly Shippo... I forget what the motive was for the Thunder Bros. killing his parents). But then Sango never would have met Miroku! :-(

Besides, Kagome gives us someone modern to identify with, and when the action gets to be too much, we get to take a break and journey with her to her side of the well. I think the series would eventually get boring without her.

 

Many of Kagome's screams are useless, but not Kagome herself. :O

If Kagome didn't shatter the jewel, we wouldn't have a series. If Kagome didn't exist, we really wouldn't have a series at all, unless you enjoy watching Inuyasha stay under his trance for an eternity. As fun as that would be, I think the current plot is a bit more interesting.

There are some episodes where Kagome helps out with the group with fighting. Sure, it's sometimes a bit cheap and you wonder how she manages to do whatever she did and then miss in the next episode, but it's something.

 

Animes, like he said. Always have to have the girlish seemingly usless ones.
She is quite useful in some episodes i've seen, but what the anime be as interesting without the whole thing with her and Kikyo. I know I wouldn't have watched it. The whole reason I watched it was because of the relationship between her and Inuyasha..but then..that's when Seeshomaru came along. mwaahahahah!

 

Personally I don't think Kagome is all that useless. She is very well needed. Naraku wants the shards. Sango, Inuyasha, and Miroku have their reasons for going after Naraku. Kagome can see the shards which make it easier on them.

 

I'm not much of a fan for Kagome (though I've been warming up to her more lately) but she is the main reason why the story is in action as it is. She may seem annoying to many but her presence is definately needed. No need for me to drag on about Kagome cause it was all stated before.

 

She contributes to the storyline. I think... Actually, in my opinion, she mostly just gets in the way. I dunno, she belongs in the story though, somewhere...
