Cowboy Bebop Dub VS. Sub - The Cowboy Bebop Version

Dub VS. Sub is a very constant debate raging throughout anime circles, but in the case of Cowboy Bebop it's almost moot, because it's one of the few animes that most everyone agrees has an excellent English dubbing.

That said, though, everyone must still have a preference when watching the show. Regardless of whether they're better actors, for me authenticity is the key of voice acting, and hearing the original Japanese actors is better, as that's how the characters were intended to sound. So, I still prefer subtitles.

Other thoughts?

 

i cAnt pick one... theyre both sooooooooo good. the sub is good just to listen to since the voices are so awesome... but the dub voices are awesome too... i think for just watching the series dubs my fav so i dont have to read and watch at the same time hehe

 

I like the Dub best.David Lucas' voice just suits Spike better.

 

For some reason listening to Japanese voices come out of Cartoon Characters feels unnatural to me. The only Time I watched a sub was Ranma 1/2 and I didn't like it much. So I stick to dub now. And there voices match their characters very well. So dub.

 

hmmmm well i guess thats because thats how you've heard it all your life...anyway...i prefered the subs, but i also loved the dubbing the second best job on an anime to hit america that ive ever seen. the first being Tenchi Muyo...

Faye - equally good
Jet - sub better
Ed - sub better
Vicious - dub better
Julia - sub better

It's a close call but my prefered sub beats it... I must give the dubbers credit they did a wonderous job... Ed's voice was well done, it must have been a hard job for ???

 

I know I'm the new guy here but I must say I prefer the sub far over the dub because in dub sometimes it change the words from their original meanings

plus after listening to sub for a while then going back to dub the dub voices sound so strange to me

 

I feel I'm the only one who Likes dub in my animes. Everyone else likes sub. To me.....Japanese voices sound too old to match the characters....But That's just me....

 

While I do like the dub I have to admit that the japanese virsion is better(I watch it without subs so I can't say subbed) the reason I got into CB was because I heard my friend saying that Hayashibara Megumi did the voice of Faye(yes Megumi is my faovirte seiyuu) so I went out and bought the dvd boxed set(I had watched it twice on adult swim and I loved it) and watched the japanese virsion for my seiyuu and I just about fainted because the japanese virsion was so good!

 

Osaka, you're not the only one who likes dub better. ^_^" I prefer it too. For some reason when I'm watching Bebop with the subs, I can't take it seriously. I end up laughing. Though I did watch the series with the subs, and then the dubs. I still prefer the dubs. Oh woe is me. lol

 

To me it doesnt matter.......it doesnt change the story.

 

Well to Be honest I love em both.Seen both But I do Prefer Faye's subbed Voice or her Dubbed Voice

 

dud vs sud

I would have to say its all up to how good the dud is. In cowboy bebop they do a decent job, but on other anime like in cardcaptor sakura the cut episodes instant of dud, that changes the stroy line and gender of the show.

 

its something you have to get used to...especially if you havent heard japanese being spoken a lot...once you hear it almost all the time like i do you just get used to voices...one thing about japanese voices is that they have a tendency to sound somewhat older or younger...but then again to them they're perfectly normal...

 

I watch it in English first than watch it in Sub for the fun of it. But i would have to go with the Dub. The characters just sound more better in Dub than Sub.

I like the dubbed. I think the voices are extremmely well played out, specially spikes b/c its deep, delicious...
