Inu-Yasha Fanfic. Reccomendations!

Since the "IY fanfic" thread was intended to accommodate user-written fanfics only (and I'd recently discovered a masterpiece every IY fan should be REQUIRED to read) I decided to start a thread specifically designed for fanfic. recommendations!

My only request is that you provide us with a link to your story, as well as a vaguely detailed summary (an FF.net summary would suffice) and refrain from posting lemons - or at least specifying whether or not the story includes lemons/limes (family site, user appropriate, yatta yatta yatta).

So without any further ado, may I present Rebound by Kristine Batey.

FF.net summary: Many years after the end of the quest of the Shikon no Tama, Kagome returns through the well.

This story is *beautiful*. It has this.. almost disturbingly *real* quality (as opposed to the traditional “post-Naraku-happily-ever-after” fics) and the author manages to keep the characters’ generic traits intact while aging them in a very credible fashion. And here's a plus - this story is accessible to virtually all of the IY fanbase - even Kikyo fans will enjoy this . Lots of angst, though... parts of it made me cry a little T_T

Just a heads up to anyone who enjoyed Rebound: Kristine Batey (who authored this pinnacle of Inuyasha fanfiction) has recently passed away. My condolences to anyone who knew her personally, as she was a well-liked regular in the fandom. Her absence will definitely take a toll on IY fanfiction, and I urge newcomers to this thread to read her stories now, while you have the opportunity (since most things on the internet are eventually deleted). As one reviewer said, "Her stories justify the existence of fanfiction".

 

I found this one early this morning, and it's kept me occupied all day (well, that and history homework @_@). It's called Pheonix Blade: Time Lapse, and while the length may put some people off, I strongly reccomend it... it is *amazing* (so far, haven't quite finished it yet). The events towards the beginning closely follow the anime (although the author definitely puts her own twists on them), but as the story goes on, and after all the major players are introduced, it begins to take on a life of its own. Minor OOC on Kagome's part (she spent four years at a school with a bunch of horny teenaged boys, it can't really be helped. I personally like this new Kagome... she's basically the same, just with a lot more of a potty-mouth and a [sometimes] *****y attitude).

MM.org summary: WiP. An AU riff on the anime. Celestial bodyguard Kagome Higurashi, recent graduate of the Imperial Military Academy, finds all of her skills being put to the test in the Sengoku Jidai after she's sucked down the well at her family's shrine.
