Video Games FPS Fans??

well, if you are the fan of the genre, like myself, you know of the upcoming game, Unreal Tournament 2003. I am just here to tell you that the demo was released a mere hours ago, if u are inrested in DLing go here :www.unrealtournament2003.com and click on downloads...it is awesome

 

hehe.. was going to mention that myself, but obviously didn't. It is quite good. Runs about as well for me as the original, though with a slightly lower resolution.

It did seem quake like at times. Rounded surfaces, some of the weapons.. Rocket launcher.. I dislike how you can't load up more than one by holding the fire button. Sure, secondary fire does that, but it isn't the same.

Chaingun's two modes seem too much the same.. oh well. little quibbles. It's not the final game after all, hopefully they'll take some of the feedback that's out there and implement a few changes in the final. At any rate it will be good.

Of course, the reason I'm happiest is that Deus Ex 2 will use that engine (modified of course) so hopefully it will run well for me

 

I love it, and it did seem a lot like quack 3 at times. It doesnt even run on my laptop, I have everything, it doesnt support my video card though ...i did play it on our desktop and it runs great...I hope the final version runs as well. If you read the included txt file it states that all the textures are compressed 2x for demo size limits, homefully them uncompressing the textures wont make it run that much slower

 

Actually, Deus Ex 2 will be using the Unreal 2 engine (ut2003 uses a modified UT engine) which means DX 2 will be twice as sweet, and twice the resource hog too

Must get the demo tommorow, its been getting good reviews so far.

 

ut2k3 and unreal2 both use the same engine, just in different degrees of advancement. from planetunreal:

Dark phire, yeah the textures were only half res. I wouldn't worry about the final running slower though. If you look in the vid options, for texture resolution you have the options normal, smaller, even smaller, and smallest. In the full version, in addition to these you'll have something like larger and largest. You can leave it at normal ifyou have to and it will be just like the demo. Only at half res meant that they didn't include the optional largest res version, cause it wouldn't fit.

 

Jeez, every time I start to get back into Morrowind, something new comes to distract me...
