Neon Genesis Evangelion good show?

I've only seen one ep of Eva., er.. ep 24 i think it was, i have it divx'ed at home, it seemed a little weird, and I did get lost a few times seeing as I joined it pretty late in the story..
what i want to know is this, is it a show worth watching? .. should I get the dvd's if I see them, or is it just ok, but not great?

i spose personal opinion plays heavily in answering this , but I did think that ep i saw was very good, if a bit confusing.

 

is Eva good? well... I suppose I'll bring my heavily biased opinion in on this one.

Shin Seiki Evangelion (New Century Evangelion) or Neon Genesis Evangelion, as it is also known (even to the Japanese) is one of the breakthrough series of all time, it starts out as a 'simple' mecha anime, but through plot twists and psychological explorations, Espionage and the hope of a dying world, Eva becomes something more. With ep 24, you saw what was pretty close to the end of the series. I highly recommend watching it through from the beginning... not to brag, but I've done that about 7 times. If possible, find it somewhere and watch it before buying it, it's worth re-watching enough to me that I'll be buying it eventually, but Eva is not for everyone. I've had friends get lost halfway through the series and swear it off forever, it was just too confusing for them. Watch it, and decide for yourself.

It is a great series. You are asking for it by starting with ep 24 though Talk about learning to swim by jumping onto the pool.
