Umm, lesse, it's been a while so I have to actually think about this one... strange to be so fanatical, yet I haven't marked the day in my history anywhere...

Hmm...I was still in high school...'twas one of That guy!'s notorious all-nighters (well, for me anyway!)...hmm...It wasn't my *last* year of high school...I'm sure of that...would be the one before...manthisthinkingthingisoverrated...hold on, I think I remember that I got to finally see the ending of the series the end of that year...so it would be a bit earlier when I saw J...

Final Answer (I think): Mid 1999? Maybe earlier...That guy! or perhaps Seraphim might remember otherwise...

Anyway, it's been a while...and it hasn't deterred yet! Exactly the opposite! My interest is rising!

 

let's see, I started University in fall 1998, joined the anime club in 1999, we watched Saber Marionette J in the club, I totally loved the darn thing, and got the president to sell me his fansubs of it.
I think it was umm, maybe Dave or Rob's (I-Dave or That_guy!'s b-day.. wasn't it Dave's BMS??? must have been Rob's).. anyways, all the guys were pulling out the fancy looking commercial anime, and I was like, (had brought down two boxes of anime vhs tapes) I was like, try this stuff, and pointed to smj, but they looked over it cuz it was a written label, and then I heard later on they finally started watching smj (probably out of boredom) at like 2 in the morning and went through til episode 13 before they passed out.. BMS could say more..



(oh, later on I borrowed the prez's smj ovas, and asked him if I could copy'em, he just said 'keep'em')

 

I really wasn't all for much anime that night to begin with...really only watched whatever everyone else was throwing on...which included *shudder* Tekken...

But, like always, soon I was just about the only one awake. There's that strange unnatural urge that makes me have to stay up the entire night without sleeping whenever I'm overnight at someone's house... Usually, no one else makes it the whole night but me...

And then there were those SMJ fansubs....but the title was what really held me back. It sounded like a girly doll house or something, I guess... That or Sailor Moon or something I really didn't feel like watching...

But man, oh man, after the first ep....well, we all know what happened after that - I've repeated it so many times...

A simple judgement of a name almost made me miss what I now loves the most...

There's a lesson to be learned from this I'm sure....

 

ya great BMS, I know what you mean, I didnt know what to expect either from a picture of Lime in an anime poster for the show. She looked 'weird' (not one of my fav. pics of Lime) and I was like.. 'whats this stuff about?' looks weird. but hey, first impression can almost always be deceiving. I thought the reason the guys at the party didnt go for it, was because it was not a fancy cover. And I watched Tekken by myself and thought it sucked. but then saw it with you guys and I actually laughed my head off. Watching anime with firends really beats wathcing it alone.

 

I liked it about 4 or 5 months ago...as soon as I found out (from the back of the DVD, I think) that Megumi Hayashibara did the voice of one of the characters. I'm a real fan of hers...especially since she did a *real* authentic penguin as everybody's favorite penpen!!

The ending part of J was so sad...until the very end after the credits. I was gonna cry, especially when they said "bye-be". I have yet to see the others...darn anime place by my house gets the Saber stuff real laggy since not a lot of people have been renting it...

 

So, do you see what all the buzz is about, now?
