Ok, If Spike and Jet got in a fight who would win? I personally think Spike would win because of his supirior fighting technique, (I think he uses Jeet-Kun-Do , not possitive enlighten me if I'm wrong.) Where as Jet uses his own personal style of fighting. (Who knows what it is?).

Also, Jet hasn't been in as many fights as Spike has. Anyone remember the episode were Spike gets blown out of the window (40 stories up I think)? He lived. That proves that Spike can take a hit. The worst Jet has had done to him was the arm incedent.

Anyway I just wanted another opinion on the topic. Thus, I open the Forum to all you Bebop fans. See you next time Space Cowboy. :D ;)

    (spoilers, Ahoy!)

Well, you could very much just argue the point that's been thrown about in the Cowboy Bebop Forums that explains Spike's innate ability to seem to cheat death every single time, up until the end of course. Though it seems as if you undermine Jet Black, a man who's lost his arm, a leg, and God only knows what else.

Also it is unfair to say that Spike has more experience in fights... in fact, we could very well say that Jet, actually, has more experience in fights, as he is not only older (Spike is, about, mid-twenties if I'm not mistaken.. between 24-26... while Jet looks like he could be in his fourties), but Jet, like Spike, was employed into a line of work that detailed training of all sorts, as Jet is a cop-turned-bounty-hunter.

Now working off ot typical assumptions... police officers and all of those sorts usually get into the work at a young age, when they first reach their adulthood, and it's not underhear of to find a police officer, goverment agent, detective, etc. who has had military training, whether it be Marines, Army, or Navy. Meanwhile, when it comes to crime syndicates and mafias, it's rare, if you even ever, see someone taken in at such a young age, and if they are, it's for training purposes, so they're at the same starting block as a police officer or military officer.

The only evidence we have that links Spike to the fact that he is, how you say, a "kick-***", is the fact that he is the main protaganist in the anime, and thus it focuses upon him, his greatness, his capabilities. However much people love them, however, Jet, Faye, Ed and Ein alike are all secondary characters and are greatly undermined by the over-exaggeration of Spike's exemplary feats, only giving an episode or two out of the twenty-six episodes to try and boost the secondary characters. And, of course, the movie almost right-out marks them out as side-kicks as they do very little.

In any case, your assumptions and this general discussion is rather shallow and has little backing, not to mention the possibilty of any REAL physical fight between the two, at least one that could be even remotely taken serious, is pretty much moot taken into account their friendship and not to mention their patience, moreso Jet's than anything else (as I've come to discover that the treatement of bonzai trees takes a lot of care, and patience. And it is even sometimes symbolic of growing into a state of old-age, in which you have time to do nothing really. Some believe that the reasoning behind why we may see an older, senior martial arts master in Asian culture given treatment to a bonzai tree is a showmanship of their patience, not to mention their control and state-of-mind).

In conclusion... yet another mindless match-up...

    You Have A Point

Although what you say is true...How many times (in the series) has Jet gotten in a fight compared to Spike? Thats why I siad what I said. I admire your point of view as a matter of fact. You are right about Jet Being a cop-gone-bountyhunter.

Also Jet does have professional trianing I'll give you that, but based on the series I think Spike would win. Another thing you say is true, a fight between the 2 would be pointless. :D

I suppose, if those are your arguing points, you must have missed one of my most important points in my previous post, which I think was covered by half the post... but I guess it'd be easy for certain people to miss. :) My point is... the series focuses on Spike. Of COURSE it looks like Spike's better. No one cares about secondary characters, they want to focus on the main character. We hardly even SEE Jet get to fight. Why? Because "fans don't care". So... the "evidence" that you use to support Spike is inconclusive.

    Thank you, come again.

I will say spike will win because if you look at jet, all he has is strength and spikes style of fighting works best against that

um... spike is 27, it says so in the manga.

well, i honeslty think that Spike would win, as he is after all the main character, plus he is the only one who could kill Vicious. Also, Spike is much younger then Jet so he has more chances of winning.

Well since character shields are utterly worthless in a versus debate, it simply comes down to reviewing the facts.

    Fact-Jet has professional training.
Fact-Jet has a cybernetic arm, thus providing a melee weapon that does not tire, has superior durability, is better dodged rather than blocked and will hurt when it does the blocking.
Fact-Jet has a very high constitution and high patience, enabling him to take a lot of punishment.
Fact-Jet knows how Spike fights (the reverse applies also, I admit).

Based on this and Spikes new-found loss of Main Character Invulnerability, I have to say Jet would win.

I'd have to agree. As much as I love Spike... Jet has a frickin metal arm. If he lands one single punch with that thing then Spike's gone.
Aside from being the main character, I don't think Spike would have much of a chance. However, if you were to give them guns, or put them in an aircraft dogfight, i think maybe Spike could do okay. He would definately take Jet in a dogfight.

i'd like to think spike would win because of his agility, versatility and youth, but truthfully, im not sure he could. jet does have to better equipment, training, and patience. cyberkenetics are the way of the future...so on and so forth. maybe a tie would occur....or maybe a draw. maybe someone would only know some sense into the other one, and there would be no worries. frankly, im not sure of who would win, but compared to spike, jet was somewhat expendable....ironically, it was spike who was spent~

professional training will get you now where in a street fight. Jet's a bit out of practice but once he's warmed up Spike might not have a chance.

I have no doubt in my mind that Spike would most likely be the winner. Although Jet may have a lot of strength, Spike's agility would most likely take the advantage of the fight.

That is my opinion too. But I do have another question. If smoking is so bad for your heart, how can Spike run so fast?

Jets type of fighting from his build and how he is. Is most likly a mix of streetfighting and grappling technics.

While Spike's is a type flowing martial art.

The winner would most likly be spike. He would end up nailing jet at least ten times in the face before Jet could even throw a punch at him.

Personally, i see Spike winning in this type of battle. If they were to fight, Spike'd shoot out all tons of crap at Jet (sort of like he did when breaking in Vicious' building). I don't see Jet so much as the kind of fighter Spike is. I see Jet more into his flying skills....

I think it would be pretty even. Jet would be my best bet at who would take the gold, due to how ewell he knows Spike. Well, there's my guess.
