As far as I understood Matt-sama, we were supposed to determine who is the most combat-capable of various anime characters, but…

    Any comments needed???

Well, this post is probably going to be useless and moronic, but I will attempt to explain. I think the AMFFF is possibly both, in some peoples opinion. Lets say, Amon Sena didn't know who Ryoko was, or even what Tenchi Muyo was, But he knew who Wolfwood was. So that may be an example of "popularity." I have not looked at these threads yet, but I will do so now, and see if I can find a better statement for you.

While the original concept was for it to be a combat-style elimination tourney where participants voted who they thought would win in a one-on-one duel, nowhere was this completely clearly stated, only implied.

And as many prefer to gauge things on personal preference, and many Anime/Manga have varying levels of what is considered "strong", it has been acceptable for past and present voters to be "influenced" in their decisions.

After all, does anyone really think little Sumomo could take down Trunks? In reality, I bet the entire overpowered DBZ cast would take the top rungs...they're so unbelievably overpowered, to the point where they throw around big numbers as measurements for fun.

I guess what I mean to say is that voting is open-ended. Vote how you will.

I guess that Sumomo's victory over Trunks (not that I know who this Trunks is, mind you, but I know who Sumomo is and this is enough for me to consider her victory over Trunks a VERY unbelievable thing) was an embodiment of... this.

Anyway, the idea of a fighting contest between various anime characters was a very good one, Matt-sama, and I am rather saddened that it got flushed down the toilet like this...

Well if you're so saddened by it, I guess, don't participate in it in the least. :p Start your own little "poll" or what not but at least pick believable fights from the start.

Fact of the matter is, this was a popularity contest from the start. That's what it was always going to be. Everyone knows it, but no one wants to admit it. :p Because some of these pairings are just absurd.

In fact, because there are only a few people beside me who seem to take contestants' fighting prowess into account while making their votes, I am not going to participate in this contest anymore.
