I was just in Forbidden Planet there the other day -
they got in ALL the Evangelion modelz! -
I just hadda get 'em all - they're so stylin'! -
ESPECIALLY EVA 01 TEST!!! - COOOOOL!
They also got in some super cute Inu-Yasha SD type blobbitz in little boxez! - they're SO cute! -
Any of u out there with a PS2 have just GOT 2 get Guilty Gear X! -
it'z only THE coolest PS2 game so far -
check out the char designz / the animation / the backgroundz -
ABSOLUTE POWER!!!!!!! -
I thought REZ was pretty groovy but WOW! - this is 1 FINE game!

cool, I've just watched the first 11 eps of Eva (thanks cloud ) and I'm fast falling in love with the series.
not sure if I will buy any of the models for a while, but if they are cheap enough it would rock!

 

I havent seen Evangelion yet, but I think I'll start downloading some episodes.
One question: where does the series start exactly?
I've seen episodes named Neon Genesis Evangelion,
End of Evangelion, or just Eva, and I'm not sure where to start.

Well strangely enough "The End of Evangelion" is the ending of the series.
Just go out and buy the AD Vision boxset when it's released later this year, that's the best way to see EVA.

OK.
First there was the original 26 episode EVA TV series.
A lot of people were very disappointed with the final 2 episodes so Gainax decided to make an alternate ending, which was the Evangelion movie, "End of Evangelion".

End of Eva was really another 2 episodes of Eva, it just changed the ending. I can't decide which ending was worse though -_-

They also produced "Death and Rebirth of Evangelion" this was just a summary of the events which occured in episodes 1-24.

 

Mhmmmm, not quite. The story as I heard it around the time when EoE was in production was that EoE was the original, storyboarded final two episodes of Eva (admittedly expanded and altered to fit in a movie slot instead).

Gainax had a tendancy, with Eva, to deliver episodes to the TV channel literally minutes before the show was due to air - quite deliberately, so that the channel wouldn't have a chance to watch them before broadcast time. This is particularly obvious with later episodes... Remember that Eva was shown at 6.30 in the evening in Japan - and even there you don't get away with the stuff shown in Ep 17 or Ep 24 at that time of the day while families are sitting down to dinner...

As a result (the story goes), the channel demanded to see the Ep 25 and 26 storyboards, threw a mickey fit (anyone who's seen EoE knows why...) and demanded that they plug the gap with SOMETHING - hence some episodes made up almost entirely of stillframes and footage from earlier in the series.

That's the story, anyway. I think it's pretty fair to say that EoE is the "proper" ending of the series either way - although I've got a soft spot for 25/26 TV, on the basis that they follow what happened to Shinji's mind more closely... And besides, they have the cool running-with-toast scene at the end

 

Yup! - Evangelion is a pretty damn groovy seriez - it will be great 2 finally get my handz on Death and Rebirth and End of Evangelion when they're finally officially released in April & July -
I have the whole seriez 'cept fer those - so I'm really looking forward 2 that! -
On another note........... I just found out today that Final Fantasy 6 has FINALLY been released here on PS1! - I must pay more attention 2 the outside world ^_^ - I've had the rom floatin' on my comp fer AGEZ & I've played the thing 2 death - but it's REALLY great playin' it properly on a big screen with a real joypad - any1 out there who'z a snes RPG fan has just GOT 2 pick this baby up! [ if ya didn't get it yearz ago on import! ] - it'z total STYLE! - Ultros is just THE most hilarious evil tentacled monster ever! - & Relm is just 2 CUTE! - it'z about THE best PS1 game I have now [IMO] - & it'z being sold fer 16.50 Euros!!! -
Here'z hoping they do the same fer the rest of the seriez!!! -

Oh, & XCR - the Evangelion modelz all cost 21.75 Euroz 'cept fer EVA-01 test type which costz 23.60 Euroz - pretty good methinx! -

i have to watch 25/26 and the EoE when I get home tonight... i finished ep 24 last night and I am dying to see the end.

i gotta say it makes a fair bit more sense after seeing the rest of the series, but i am still confused by a lot of what's happening.

Everyone seems to like Eva, I'm really thinking of buying the DVDs.
Are they available in Ireland, or would I have to use eBay or something?

since they never were released in the UK.

Also, you could preorder the new Eva boxset which featires a new remastered version of disc 1, I can't remember the url's or any sites stocking these though (I think they're limited)

 

EVA

I've never seen Evangelion and I really want to check it out first to consider buying it.
I've searched high and low on the internet but can't find any episodes to download!
Does anyone here know they can be downloaded?

 

Just go and buy 'em.
By dloading stuff that's already been officially released in the west you're just screwing over the company.

You buy more official products, they'll release more official products, simple as that.
