Anime Live Action Akira?

I was watching manga classic Akira recently, and was thinking about how it would turn out as a live-action movie. To my surprize, I then read that it was rumoured to under way...anybody hear anything? They'll probably ruin it....

 

I haven't, but I could imagine. I remember the anime had some sick parts, like when Tetsuo's body literally goes all out and demonically grows, which would probably be toned down or even taken out of a live-action version. Lots of people were already upset with the anime movie version cuz they liked the manga version better, so if the creators took that into consideration, the live-action would probably match closer with the manga series than the anime movie.

When I did first see the anime movie, I thought it was really cool, cuz it was my first time seeing a good sci-fi anime with all kinds of cool visual effects. It would be hard to get a similar "wow" effect these days since there have been lots of big-budget sci-fi and fantasy movies out recently.

 

Indeed...it's definetly something Hollywood could ruin. Although, let's face it, almost everything adapted by the big studios is a big letdown.

 

I dont know...but I think that it would be cool!! Of course I enjoyed both manga and anime versions....hopefully the live action wont ruin it..eh?

Oh ya....

I didn't hear anything about Akira, however that does remind me that two years ago I saw something about a live DragonballZ movie coming out late this year, (Not that I want to see that, at least not after the first DragonBall live movie, if any one had the displeasure of watching that!) :dizzy:

 

...And then of course there's the Evangelion movie. WETA digital (LOTR) are doing the effects, but apparently they've changed some things from the original.
