Today while I was at a DVD store, I found some Naruto DVDs. The guy who works there said that they have 24 DVDs while the rest are in the way or no more in stock.. etc.

Main thing is that they said its only subbed into english, no dubs.

What are these DVDs?? Where did they come from??

I believe for both. The place buys DVDs and rents them.

Well, renting them out is fine, but selling them isn't. I'd assume they are getting them off the internet and burning them onto dvd or getting them from a fansubber, placing them in their stores for people who can't download them to watch. People who buy unlicensed anime get ripped off too much..

Hmm, if that's true (that it is illegal) I never thought it'd come her. I mean it came in a neat box :p

But to me I don't mind spending some money for some anime that I have a hard time getting from the net :p

I'll check again though, I am getting more curious now..

The thing is, *we* don't get hurt that much, as far as us buying GOOD bootlegs go. I mean, as long as we're happy, unless you were aiming for the RegionX (insert your region there) releases and end up with a bootleg.

And there ARE bootleg companies that make great looking boxes. Look at the Ranma 1/2 OAV collector's box...the bootleg and the original has almost nothing dissimilar, except the plastic slip case. And the FX release of Cowboy Bebop. That was a GREAT looking box, and even came with the CDs that the Sepia Set had.

But, the anime INDUSTRY does, and so does the main producers of the show. They don't get any royalties off of the product. And that means, less anime coming for a full RegionX release. Which sucks, because a lot of us like to have the real deal.

I've nothing against RENTING bootlegs/fansubs (as per use of the DVD itself) but selling is a different matter altogether (in my all too jumbled morality).
