Okay, I was wondering if someone could help me and tell me what this anime is about. I would go to sites but sometimes it's hard to find a really good one and it takes forever. I would much rather ask people who have seen the series and make their own summaries.

So please, any help is appreciated. Thank you ^_^

Bakamattsu or Luvweaver (if he's still here) could probably give you better sense on what the story is, but for now I'll give you a rough summary on what the story is about.

Saber Marionette J or SMJ begins in the distant future when the earth becomes too overpopulated and several hundred ships are sent out to colonize other inhabitable planets. One of these ships is the Mesopotamia, yet a problem occurs on this ship. Upon reaching it's destination (I assume) the ship goes berserk, and blows up, but before it exploded one life boat/ship was able to escape, and descended down the planet. Only six people survived, unfortunately all the survivors were men.

Instead of lying down and accepting their deaths, the six men started to clone themselves, creating small civilization, made up of only men. Now because the planet is made up of only men, the six survivors wanted to created something to fill in for their opposite sex, since they couldn't clone females with a all male group. They created marionettes, androids that look like female, but have absolutely no emotions.

Skip forward 300 years, six city state civilization were created to govern the cloned people of Terra II (The planet) Japoness, (Equivalent to Japan) New Texas (Equivalent to USA), Xian (Equivalent to China), Gartlant (Equivalent to Germany), Petersburg (Equivalent to Russia), and Romana (Equivalent to Romania....???). The city-state that is focused mainly on, on this series is Japoness (That what the J stands for in SMJ) and one hard working citizen, Otaru Mamiya. He's a hard working guy, always taking odd jobs to support himself. One day after getting into a brawl with a local gay guy (Being gay is normal in this universe) he finds a marionette hidden within the underground of abandoned museum. After it's activation, the main lead notices something different about this marionette from the marionette, she can smile, laugh and show all types of emotion.

Going any further and I may spoil some things, but this is the basic premise of SMJ. It's a great series and you should definitely check it out, and it would make Bakamattsu really happy as well

He's said it all, and in a well-done summary as well. It sounds a bit complicated, but it really isn't a very hard to follow anime series. SMJ is my personal favorite anime, if you hadn't caught on by comments around here. :)

It starts out light, like a romantic comedy, but becomes serious just when it needs to be. An emotional ride, as I like to put it. Definately worth checking out if you have the opportunity.

Yeah, it does look cute. I read the summaries you all gave me. Thanks for replying. Now I really want to watch it. It sounds a little like Vandread too.

    Well, here's a different summary.

The story is (apparently) about a guy who has 3 marionettes (androids) fighting over him a-la Tenchi Muyo style ^_^, but later you realize it's much more than that.

The show is actually about Lime (the most innocent of the three) and her process of growing up. She learns to feel, to worry, to cry, she learns about pain and love. And this process of discovery goes in the middle of battles between Otaru and Faust, each one with his trio of maiden-circuit marionettes.

At the beginning we think Faust's marionettes are the typical villains, but with time, we learn they have feelings too - and it's very *sniff* sad how he treats them.

So, putting it all together, the show is about life, growing up, and mainly, about love and innocence.

    Well, that's my 2 cents. Enjoy! ^_^

I know this has already been answered,but...

I thought I would share with you my own plot summary (slightly modified) that I posted to the message forum in another online community.
