Eirtaku Past Event: Anime on Friday, 15-Nov-2002 (Dublin)

Well it's probably too late to sign up now anyway. I don't think I can go this weekend but hopefully Kenshin will keep us informed about all upcoming all night LAN events.

I think Mordeth is going with 3 friends, Chowmein, Wossack, Tusky and Kuroi are going too...

Well, 'twas grand. Grand indeed. Jin Roh was a kick *** film, Nausicaa was good, but really quite strange. But good. I also got cds off mord, so that was also good.
Is it coming around again next week? If it is I'd suggest either FLCL or Giant Robo. They are fskin brilliant ovas. So they should be shown. Jes.

 

Yeah, it went well. Jin Roh was good, but a bit slow moving imo...
And Nausicaa was pretty good, too.
We wont be showing anything next, but we will be the week after, I think.
FLCL might be a good thing to show... or Read or Die... just finished watching it and it kicks ***...

I liked jin roh, it was so incredibly depressing naussica was good too.. but incredibly 'cutesy' and a bit childish.

and yeah ROD or FLCL next time.. although, i'm not sure how many people would be able to take 3 hours or FLCL.. specially if they're new to anime

 

I'd vote for Read or Die, I haven't seen it yet but it looks very good from what I've heard.

I was there on Friday (I was the guy in the red coat who left 30 mins into Nausicaa with alot of bags) but I didn't really have the chance to match faces with internet handles.

I think Mordeth was sitting next to Lex, if so I was the fellow Japanese class taker he mentioned.

I actually remembered Nausicaa from a very long time ago. When I was about ten I saw it but never found out the name, it was on S4C I think. The only scene I could remember was the one where the Ohmn was chasing that guy through the desert, but I just remembered that scene perfectly. I recall that it grossed me out at the time but was rather tame this time round

I have to do my presentation of Anime tomorrow, I've got a few nice overheads printed so hopefully it will go well.

Unfortunately several of my classmates (upon my informing them that anime are 'cartoons' made in Japan) have made comments like "you mean like Pokemon" and the like. I have made an exptensive effort in my speech to counteract this prejudgice and so hopefully I can enlighten them at little
