It doesn't mean anything. Furi Kuri is a nonsensical title for a nonsensical OAV. It gets played around with a lot of different meanings, like grampa's kiri-kiri-ing with his hands in the manga scene of episode 1. "Kiri-kiri" seems to be what the japanese use as an onomatopoeia for kneading bread. Or, at the very least, it's what grampa uses.

The titles are also plays on Furi Kuri in that they're two syllable phrases. For example Bura Bure is shortened for Brittle Bullet. ^_^

But, no it doesn't MEAN anything. And I hope the interest FLCL is generating can get the original board back up and run and ruled with an "ironed hand" again. ^_^

This would have been an idean question for teh FLCL forum (RIP) I'm over it though.

I was under the impression that Bura Bure was for 'bra bullet.' Some site somewhere had it rendered that way. Can't believe everything on the internet of course.

Speaking of kneading, unless I am off, it was hinted at some point that FLCL had something to do with stuff that will get you a sexual harrasment accusation. Nonsensical is prolly the best answer though

My "translation" was straight from the Producers/Directors commentary in the third disc. Heh, I can't recall if all three discs (I know the second and third did) has director's commentary...but it stands to reason that it does. It *kinda* makes me wish for the japanese-released single-episode per DVD releases because I hear it has a load more extras...just makes me kinda wish that I knew what they were. ^_^

And yes, a Fenix Down on the FLCL board would be heaven to mine ears.

That's just Ken's tourets! *huggles Ken like a big Totoro doll*
