I'm looking for a new anime to buy to watch because i just finished GTO(what a great series!).

So what would you recommend to a guy who liked GTO, .Hack, Excel Saga, Love Hina, and Rurouni Kenshin?

    Please ad reasons why also.

Serial Experiments Lain. Nothing like a deep thinking anime to offset the Love Hina and Excel Saga. Also, it's just a great series. Questions cyber-god and all.

Crest/Banner/Battleflag of the Stars. Great series spanning a whole series trilogy. Also, the storytelling is great. Too bad the dubbing sucks. However, you shouldn't be watching anime like that anyway. Also, it's based off a novel, so the story is a bit more engrossing.

Hellsing for the action. Because the action was cool.

Read or Dream TV and Read or Die. Why? Simply because of the Paper.

Onegai Teacher! and Twins! (Izzy, how could you forget that one? ;))
    -Your typical romance, ecchified, anime.

Well, Serial Experiments Lain as mentioned.

    Sakura Wars
-Because it's HUGE in Japan, and that it has the typical Koisuke Fujishima art (Oh My Goddess!, éX Driver & You are under arrest) and yet, a nice story.

Well, I can't think of anymore, currently watching Lain and ROD.

You sound like a guy who totally needs to see Fushigi Yuugi. That, or Macross Plus; but not the movie version.

You might want to try The Twelve Kingdoms. It's a fantasy anime based on a series of Japanese novels (somewhat unusual, from what I've found in anime). Because of this it does move a bit slowly at first, but if you stick with it then things pick up and you'll find yourself wanting to know what happens next. The series is released by Media Blasters, and there are at least 4 DVDs available at this time.

As for other suggestions....I can't think of anything off the top of my head. If I do I'll post more.

FLCL (because its great), Onegai Teacher and Twins of course, definetly the Crest of the Stars series trilogy, and Green Green (just some good pervert comedy within a romantic story).
