"extreme" is hard to define of course. I don't think the entire topic needs to be banished, but but people would do well to remember that discussions about religion generally go nowhere, but especially so once the flames start. And for the purposes of this thread and the charter, I consider atheism a "religion." We don't need that foisted on us any more than traditional religion X.

 

Exactly. I enjoy a healthy discussion on anything, even religion, like the next sane person (emphasis on "healthy"). Flamewars about "your religion is stupid because it's not mine" and such, on the other hand, are entirely unecessary and simply fuel bad feelings between members. We don't need wars in the community here.

 

I'm sure the moderators will keep an eye out in case things get out of hand. Hopefully, people will watch what they post and have the decency to cut a potential conflict off before it gets out of hand.

What was it you were going to bring up in this thread chiquitabanana? I seem to recall a thread asking what type of religion you are, so you might want to avoid that one.

Don't freak out on this or anything but I personaly am an Atheist.
Most people don't like that but that is how I was raised and well that is what I have come to accept.....

As far as holidays I dont have any...

 

I say we lock this thread NOW before -anyone- begins a flame war. In my three years at spacebattles, I cannot immeadiately recall ANY thread regarding religion which did not result in flames, and frankly I'd rather not see a keg of explosives like this explode in M2A.

 

That's a very good point, Neph, and I second it. People have been good so far, but it only takes one post awry to make people upset or angry or highly defensive.

 

my two cents:

religion is a tool to control the masses. the christian church is the biggest land owner in the world.
there is no 'right religion,' as long as yousa believe in something
science is a religion because it does what all the others do --provide an explaination of the unknown, it's just open about not knowing things and recognizes that ultimate knowledge takes time, unlike set Gods like Gehova and Yaweh.

 

Don'tget mad but i am "catolic" but would rather spend my afterlife burning in Hell.

 

I call for a thread lock-down NOW as subtle flames towards specific religions have already begun and its just a matter of time before outright attack start.
