I did it, I aquired both episodes of the mysterious Samurai Spirits/Shodown OVA on DVD. Took me long enough to track them down and get them imported, cost me near $100 too. But it was worth it. Even though the episodes are only 30 minutes each, and there are only two of them, they are far better than that crappy "motion picture" that was released way back when.

It really seems like they could have expanded this into a 13 or 16 episode series. There were a few unexplained flash backs and a couple clips that looked like they could have been elaborated on more (or were going to at a later point in time). But the fight scenes were top notch and the story (even though I didn't have a translation) seemed to be much more in depth (based on the Samurai Shodown 64 series of games that were released on the Hyper NeoGeo arcade system).

Here are some snap shots I took:
    Pic01 Pic02 Pic03 Pic04 Pic05 Pic06 Pic07 Pic08 Pic09 Pic10
    Pic11 Pic12 Pic13 Pic14 Pic15 Pic16 Pic17 Pic18 Pic19 Pic20

Would anyone be interested in helping to translate these?

It was the begining of what could have been a series of Samurai Spirits/Shodown television episodes (released back in 1999). As far as I know they stopped after these two episodes were produced (most likely in conjunction with SNK going bankrupt). The episodes follow the story lines of the characters based on the Samurai Spirits/Shodown 64 arcade game. Mostly in their battle against Asura. Bust and Slash versions of some of the characters appear and the fighting scenes are great. The only downside is each episode is only thirty minutes, and a lot is left unexplained (since there are only two episodes). Well that and all the dialog is in Japanese (no sub/ no dub).
