Yep, in this OVA Lime is really childish (not only with mind but also with her body), Cherry has the same crush for Ota,..erm Junior, and Bloodberry is a palace's guard marionette (the precedent for Baiko and Tamasaburo?).
The Sexadolls are just very bad, but Lime also is a little scary (if you watch the final combat you can guess what I mean). Lime in a beserk mode, something that only was showed once in Load #1 of SMJ, when Lime gets green eyes.
In SMR I think that the most importan character was cherry, with her dreams about her an junior together, but overall I don't think that it was better than any of the another SM series. I just liked how looked the characters, but I didn't like the end.

Hrm? Where does SMR come in??

Ok..i need to get all the series in order. So is it SM, then SMJ, then SMJtoX, and then SMR? Are there anymore? and what's the order?

SMR is placed 200 or 300 years later than SMJ, but it was the first series released (1994/1995), based (only in part) on the original novel by Satoru Akahori. He wasn't pleased with the way it took when the OVA was made, so he also wrote then SMJ, which happens before (??). As it's posted on Hanami's Saber Marionette World, SMJ (the original novel, not the manga and/or anime), was wriitten because the autor wrote on the first novel (SMR) that there were no women at all, and that the three marionettes were there to make the same that they finally made on SMJ. The way they've made is a mistery, the novels aren't easy to find where I live, and also, I don't understand japanese :D

    I hope all of this wasn't a mess :p

Actually, that's not how I remember the story.

How I recall it, was Satoru had been writing the Saber Marionette J novels when he was approached by producers with interest in porducing a short OVA series of it.

However, Satoru's story had far too much to it, and he felt it impossible to fully portray in a few episodes. Thus, he instead offered up a story set far into the future, involving the same world, and with characters very close to those he had presented in his novels. The result was R.

    I'm not Akahori!

Bakamattsu, it could be that way, either. I'm not Akahori (I couldn't ever write a letter! :) ) and the english translation about what he wrote on the 8th book of SMJ novel is a bit ambiguous.

Quee...well, does that mean, then, that R is the very last of the SM series? And how does SMJtoX fit in? Was it part of the original?

Bakamattsu was right :glazed: With four timelimes it's somewhat difficult to remember when began/ended each part of the SM universe

At the bottom of this page there is a pic showing the timeline of each part regarding SM. (Novel, TV series, OVA, manga).

    Hanami's Saber Marionette world

    Nowanchatte!
    All the novels regarding SM.
(This site has something to do with Satoru Akahori?. All his works are here)

    Saber Marionette's Library
In AKahori's official site there's some advertising about his works, and also he tells about the new SM sequel ("Stories in a Private Edo School").

    And that's all folks

Well actually the order of the series its pretty confusing
The first serie made was smr, based on the original novel
Then in 1994 or 96 they created smj, but the real problem came when deciding when did smr happen...b4 smj or 200 years after smj
The answer its pretty simple , we dont know
U can place it wherever u like but the most common its 200 or 300 years after lime cherry and bloodberry

These ovas combine both a little erotism and action
And really like them even if lime its sooo..well u understand right?

Oh, but we do know. The official consensus is that it happened 200 years after Saber Marionette J. Check Hanami's world (it should be one of kap's spiffy links above) and you'll find a wonderful timeline divided into 4 rows (Terra2's timeline, the Original Novel timeline, the anime timeline, and the manga timeline).

Note that the Novel for SMR didn't publish until after the OVAs were all released, further backing up my memory on the subject.

If you were just looking to watch/read the series in order, than it's simple:

    SMJ
    SMJ Again
    SMJ to X
    SMR
    SMZ

Still no idea where this "new" series falls into place myself...

Yeah, that's the order. In short, SMR's plot has NOTHING to do with SMJ whatsoever. It's like a totally new story with the same (sorta) characters.

most of the sotorylines says that happen 200 years after smj but ive asked many experts ansd the situations that happens in smr makes me think it really happens somewhere else
the only confirmated serie that happen after smj its smz (mn serie)
