I finnaly got mine today and finnaly saw the film!
The DVD itself was great. The menus are fun to stare at (I tried but didn't find a single egg) however the one for special features actually spoils a big scene in the movie, which p!ssed me off.
The movie itself was somewhat disapointing because, until around the end, the music sucked and the art wasn't as "dark" and blusey as it normally is, except during maybe said scene. I think it coulda been a lot better, and if it were an episode of the show it would be mediocore, like Heavy Metal Queen only without the name guessing stuff.
But as far as an anime movie goes, it was pretty darn good. Just not as good as it should be. And the stuff they did with Faye was degrading. I always admired her, and I think that scene just totally blows it.
But it was all certianlty worth seeing.

the anime itself is well.. is exactly the same as the eps if not better actualy.. And the movie is rather dark.. maybe not bluesie but Just Dark.

But your right the movie kinda sucks compared to the eps. I think Spike needed to be a bit more upbeat and they should have cut out that possible love story with Electra..

    But anyway. WATCH THE MOVIE

I thought the movie was the best. The ending wasn't as great as I thought it would be,but I was not disappointed.I knew it was going to be different from the show.I loved both the monorail and the "bridge to heaven" scenes.I thought it was arguably the best movie I've seen in a while. It will take quite a zinger to top it.The extras of the disc were mediocre. The featurettes gave me a chance to finally see what David Lucas/Steve Blum looked like.We also get to see the girl that talks for Ed(who is considerably hot).Other than that,it sort of dragged down after the first 3 or so.I agree that the Faye part was sorta degrading to women. But it was believable. If you get a psycho and a tied-up women in a room,it ain't gonna be pretty.

There were some incontinuity errors. Halloween was way off, even in the Halloween capital of the world, Salem MA (near where I live.)
I couldn't figure out what planet, nation, and city it took place in. They had the eiffle tower but nothing else French. It appeared to be on Earth but I didn't notice the sky or soil. Spike falls for this girl because he "likes a girl who can kick [his butt]" yet we all know that he "dosn't like girls with an attitude."
Speaking of Spike, he was just too arrogant in this film. He needs to care less.

It took place on Mars. The tower just happened to look a lot like the eiffel tower.Did you see the scene before that when Spike was fighting the army outside of Alba City.Didn't you wonder why all the soil was red and the highway was encased in a tube? Also Spike liked Electra because she could put up a fight, and yet still be feminine.Faye is tough and feminine, but she has an attitude the size of Ganymede.

I recently read somewhere about a tower in Japan that looks exactly like the Eiffle tower. That was probably it. Maybe it actually took place in Japan?

Tokyo Tower is a big broadcasting tower in Japan. Yes, it is a similar structure to that of the Eiffle Tower. Smaller, though, I believe.

And it DID take place on Mars. Anything actually happening on Earth is rare in Bebop. Why? Well, falling debris would put a damper on most anything that'd happen in the movie.

As far as Spike's attitude, yeah, it was a bit different. But that's the way it goes. Even saying that it *is* different (he's less aloof, and more involved) that's because the movie has a different feel than a normal TV episode. That and it's not exactly canon to the story, in any case.

The movie was great. The fight scenes in the movie were well made, very fluid, instead of one sketch after another without much movement...like most animes.
