I just want your opinions on this. No flames. Pretty please?

Did anyone else get confused at the end? I was, for several reasons:
    1) The Shikon Jewel was never restored.
    2) Naraku WAS NOT KILLED.

This frustrated me. Any opinions on why exactly Miss Takashi decided a hundred-fifty plus episode cliffhanger was a good plan? Or rather, a thirty-plus book manga series?

Here are some questions to brainstorm:
1)Were the characters sufficiently developed that we simply don't need any more episodes?
2)Is it a good policy for an author to not resolve the major plot?
3)Do people loose enthusiansm for a series due to how they percieve the ending? Or does the "body" of the series make up for any dissapointment?

In other words, she just decided to end an episode and call it quits, or maybe...
Well, she made you watch/read all of it right? I'd say "Mission Accomplished".
Well, I think it's just for a small tale of the adventure of 6 (Kagome, InuYasha, Sango, Miroku, Kirara, and Shippo) travelers out to practically "save us from evil". Lots of things happened since the beggining. For instance, the relationship between InuYasha and Kagome, or Sango and Miroku (well, kind of)

Ah, now just because the anime ended, doesn't mean that manga did. Besides, she scheduled for a last movie that's apparently supposed to "end it all", a finale, if you will. So are the adventures on the anime over? Not till the movie.

You're not alone, I too thought that the ending was a very dissapointing way to end the anime episodes.

I've never even watched Inu Yasha, but in my eternal quest to fight stupidity, I must make a comment.

After 150 episodes, a cliffhanger is a slap in the face. Mission Accomplished nothing; people watch because they want to know how it'll end. 10:1 odds are that people wouldn't bother watching if they knew such an obesely huge series ended in of all things a cliffhanger. It's the same reason people complain about Halo 2s ending, except that at least with Halo you're guaranteed a sequel.

Edit: Seriously, if I had to sit through 150 episodes of ANYTHING only to get some horrible cliffhanger as a series finale, I'd scream bloody murder, movie or no movie. Way to milk your fans for those last few pennies!

Inuyasha is 167 episodes long. Yes, the ending to the anime leaves a fair amount to be desired. However...this isn't much different from any of Takahashi-san's other series that have been made into anime.

The fact of the matter is, there are lots of anime series that end before their respective manga series end. Inuyasha is just one more in a long line of series to do so, and it won't be the last. There are many reasons why an anime may end before the manga. Sometimes the ratings drop, so the series gets axed. Sometimes the anime catches up to the manga and the studio decides to end the anime rather than making up filler. Other times they reach a logical conclusion point for the anime and just stop rather than continuing.

As there are quite a few threads dealing with the ending of the series, I would ask that any further discussion be carried on in one of those. Do a search of the forum; you'll find them easily enough. Topic closed.
