Saber Marionette Ultra Groovy SMJ DVD Secret Kick *** Extra

Watching my SMJ DVDs today(all 25 eps. back to back, me -> :dizzy2: ), I noticed the most delightful of hidden extras on disk 1 of the SMJ Collection 3(the one with Bloodberry on the cover). To get it, you first change the language to Japanese(and you'd want to turn on the subtitles too), the just go to the main opening menu and move the cursor to the lower big glowing red orb/dot/blob. It should light up and you can select it.
It has this mini show thing hosted my Megumi Hayashibara( Megumi = t3h 0wn), and it's got a top 10 of SMJ sub-characters as well as interviews with Satoru Akahori(the creat0r), and the voice actors for Otaru(it's a lady ), Cherry and Bloodberry. It's really cool. Yeah.
I don't know if anyone else has already found/posted this, but just in case. You should check it out.

 

Hey thanks for that secret extra, but I thought the sub character count down sucked, Hanagata is not a sub-character.
Gennai or Baiko and Tamasaburo should have been, ahh if you haven't seen it, watch it, you'll know what I mean

 

Yep! I know that secret! Someone told me a while ago (I forgot who). But that interview was sooo tight! Koyasu Takehito should've been in there too... I wanted to hear HIS opinion on Hanagata!

Oh btw, I think the "Sub-Character Countdown" was based on a fan voting in Japan, and I guess Hanagata got the most votes, so he was #1 Sub-character.

So THAT'S where they hid the Japones Headline! >.<; They had it listed and credited in the second disc (and the piece of paper that comes w/ the disc), but I never DID figure that out....O.O; Silly moi...

Isn't cool at the start(and at the end) when Megumi says in engrish "Welcome to Japones Headline. Hi, I'm Megumi Hayashibara." She's cool. Japones Headline is teh pwn.

 

Her voice sounds... squeakier, somehow, in Japanese. And I think Soemon deserved a bit higher ranking...

 

Rewatching SMJ at the moment, reminds me of why it's one of my favourite animes ever. Anyway, I found another secret thingy. It's not as good as the other one, I just thought I'd let you know. On the same disc, collection 3, disc 1, if you highlight the J in the Saber Marionette J logo thingy at the top of the screen(just keep pressing up to get there if you can't just use a mouse), you can see the intro song(succesful mission) and the outro song(I'll be there) one after the other, exactly as they appear in the normal program, except they have no credits or anything and no subtitles. Just thought you might like to know if you didn;t already.

 

yeah, Yuka Imai is female. Otaru doesn't sound too girly I guess.

Cool extras. I'll have to watch them when I get my grubby hnds on the DVDs. And Megumi with engrish.. the only time I've heard it is on her rendition of 'fly me to the moon.' Always wondered if she could speak it (or fake it) at all.

I have to watch those themes... They must make KILLER screenshots, though, ne? *squee* ^_^

Y'know what? SMJ really IS one of my top favorite anime series... it's just so... cool. ^^

I HIGHLY agree with you, gurl ^^ SMJ's the BEST of all anime series!

 

If you're using a remote and can't figure it out (like me at first ::^^:: teehee)

Set it to Japanese (and subtitles if you want to, but it doesn't really matter). Start pressing the up key until you can't see anything highlighted. Then press down. The J should be glowing. Then just hit enter. It's one "title" and two "chapters", one for the ending and one for the opening sequence.
