If you mean anime, don't bother, it costs the earth and none of it is subtitled, better off going via internet stockists. but if it's manga you want, how do the first 28 volumes of Inu Yasha grab you. Inu yasha sets are pretty cheap. Or how about Trigun and Trigun Maximum? or Hare nochi guu? it's all good stuff.:D

    Bookoff

    Haliho!

    Not exactly what, but where.

Try to find a "Bookoff" store.

They are the best secondhand bookstore (-chain)

    (help: http://www.ebookoff.co.jp/top.html ;)

For full priced mangas, you don't have to visit Japan.

But for 100 yen mangas, this is the ideal place.

(They sell videos and DVDs too...)

And 100 yen isn't the lowest price. If you find a nice set... :D

And a little bit of "what" : Tsutomu Nihei's Blame and Noise, and Endo Hiroki's Eden and short stories... :D

Definitely the Inuyasha, although last thing I knew #25 was just out and I think getting #28 may be tricky! I managed to pick up 1-20 in a second hand place in Kyoto (it was under the train tracks near the eki) for 4000en. Which is a bargain, my friend. Especially when you compare it with the price of American graphic novels. One of the few things that is cheaper in Japan. Buy all you can carry.
Legato is right, Hale nochi Guu is great, as well as Trigun. Excel Saga is cool too.
