    What would happen if Cherry or BloodBerry was awakened first...and Lime was awakened later on? Would Otaru still have the same special effection for Lime, or will it be the first one he awakens? Would SMJ still be focused on mainly Lime?

    That's a very interesting question, Lime! Hmm... well, in one episode of J ("The Otaru Marionette Cup"... I forget which number it is -_-;),

    (MILD J SPOILER AHEAD)

    Tiger tells Luchs that Otaru goes for the sweet and innocent type. And since Lime is arguably the most innocent of the three, this alone may have made him favor her, anyway. However, there is something to be said for the 'novelty' of waking up a marionette with an otome kairo in the first place. I think whichever marionette Otaru found first would earn a special place in his heart simply because he had never met a marionette with emotions before. I think, though, that the series would focus on Lime regardless because of its very optimistic and cheerful view of human nature. While all three of the marionettes are certainly optimistic, cheerful and generally good natured (though Cherry and Bloodberry have their PMS-y moments :sweat2:), Lime is by far the most good natured and well, forgiving of the three. However, there is the structural cliche in (shonen?) anime which is as follows: whatever chick the guy finds first is usually the one he prefers (even if secretly). This is true in SMJ, Tenchi Muyo! (Ryoko) and even in Fushigi Yugi (from what I've seen of it, that is. Miyaka prefering Tamahome). I guess we'll never know...

    I too think Otaru will still have the same affection for Lime. Besides, regardless of who was awakened first, Lime will still go through the same stuff such as death (you know, Tiger :( ) and other experiences, which made SMJ to mainly focus on Lime. No matter what, she still has the innocent and purity nature, and her otome kairo will react the same. Cherry and Bloodberry still will be more mature than Lime, typically, because the scale in ep. 15, read that Cherry was the most mature, then Bberry, and then Lime. Naturally, Lime's still gonna be the most immature out of the three. Therefore, Otaru is going to love Lime just the same. Ok, maybe all this blabbering ain't making sense..? ^^;

    Funny how it worked out that Lime was the first one to mature her circuit to full...being the most immature-seeming of the bunch...

    BakaMattSu, ignoring the original topic and once again going in his own direction...

    True, true. Lime is the most immature of the marionettes and so ohas the most potential for growth when faced with life's hardships and challenges. Kind of like the fool in the tarot. The fool is the deck's initiate, its protagonist, its "Perceval" in Arthurian terms. Therefore, it would be logical that the series would focus on her no matter what. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, guys and gals!

    Lime is constantly learning....in every epiode she learns something new. That could of been why her circuit matured first.

    Wow, such a thinking anime :D lol

    That's one reason why I love Saber Marionette. You get to learn so much about life that you don't constantly think of. ;)

    This is just idle speculation,and only vaguely on topic,but do you think that SMJ would've done as well without Megumi Hayashibara? For that matter,do you think that SMJ would've been scripted as it had if MH hadn't done Lime's voice? Has Megumi become a cash cow for anime companies?

    *ahem*...Moo...

    I can only speak from speculation, but I'm pretty sure in the original novels (before Megumi-Sama was even thought to be cast) Lime was pretty much the same character in all aspects. So, for the scripting, I would say it would be the same...

    As for the success-story-cow-milking-oh-man-I've-got-bad-images-in-my-head-now aspect, I can't really say. I've heard other seiyuu that could probably have filled Megumi's void, but we would've lost her vocals on the musical side...It's a real toss up, and since everything is so tightly knitted together in the fashion that hit me with the biggest impact, I'll honestly jump ahead and say, "Yeah, I would still be obsessively wasting my time with SMJ without Megumi"...

    How can I safely say this (get ready to beat the Baka)? Because I didn't even know who Megumi Hayashibara was until SMJ... Yup, as the first anime to bring me into "Otakudom", that's how I learned her name... And even though she's very talented and one of my favorite celebs today, I would've liked SMJ just the same if she hadn't been there...

    BakaMattSu, Ah! Megumi-Sama! (Has he done this sig before?)
