To me I think that Spike has been shoot more times than Vash. It seem in every episode that he keeps on geting shot. He got shot alot in that one episode when he went aginst that one fata## in the black(I forget his name all the time )but he live after that day and he went aginst him again and kick his a## with a poket knife, now that was awsome. :anime:

Throughout their whole lives? If you have watched all of Trigun you would have seen all the wounds and bullet holes and scars Vash has.. it's a wonder that he doesn't fall apart.

Just to warn you, this pic is a bit graphic :p http://jurty.h1.ru/articles/vash01.jpg

It seems a bit like they are more slash wounds though..

I thought they were (partly at least) from operations done to make him a cyborg.. Given that he is partly artificial, I find Spike's continued survival more amazing. He had a pretty good job done on him in the movie too..

I think we've had too much contrast between these two characters in Trigun/CB/Polls etc. From top to toe every aspect of their personality has been talked about in a comparative way. Face it, they are both good at what they do and as characters they were likeable and great in their anime. Let's just let them be...

I find this strange because you NEVER see scars on spike. He's like T-1000 from Terminator 2. He just regenerates without so much as a scratch.

Says who? Both series were given 26 episodes. And if you count in Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on the heavens door (movie), which is pretty much an elongated episode... we get more CB than Trigun.

If all animes were 50 or so episodes long like the 'Gundam' series, the audience wouldn't last as long simply because both Trigun and CB established a sufficient storyline and character development in those 26 episodes that if they were to double the episode length... it will simply draggggg. Take DBZ as an example... great at first but quite repeated and longwinded in the long run.

wow i didnt realized that trigun was only 26 episodes.. sry for the confusion in example then.. it just seems like a longer running series to me lol

i still think dbz is a kick *** show... i think that adding some length to a series is a way to keep and gain more audience, not a way of loosing viewers... Rurouni Kenshin and Inuyasha are longer running series's and they both rule.

Well the point I'm getting at is that not all animes need to be lengthy, if it is fairly short but good... I think that's all that matters. If you wished it to have been longer then maybe do it through a second season.

Now come on, rember the time when he went head to head with Mad Piroe. That guy was almost untouchable. Anyone who cross would be dead befor they can even pull out their gun.Now that is a awsome fight for the records.

    *****SPOILERS*****

Okay, this will probably bare my stupidity quite a bit but upon observation, I don't think Vash's scars really look like scars from gun-shots. Most of them are jagged, stitch-type scars or surgical scars. I mean, maybe some of that damage could be if shot-guns or machine guns actually took chunks out of him. Judging from the scars the only one I know was caused by a gun was the loss of his arm (we see when Knives shoots its off in a flashback).

It's been a while since I've watched all of Cowboy Bebop but I'm not sure we get a fair enough chance and all that much time to see Spike's body, though you have to take into account, part of Vash's character are his wounds and scars; those are what define him, really, when for Spike it's really just his lost eye. In all honesty, I don't know, off hand, how many times each character was shot that we've seen in the series. I only remember bits and pieces, mainly Cowboy Bebop (his confrontation with Vicious in the church, then at the end, as well as in his past when running from the syndicate).

And just to throw in my input... I think the longer runnign series get too repetitive and boring. :p Like Inuyasha, Dragon ball, Dragon Ball Z, etc. The only longer series that I've seen that I found tolerable was Rurouni Kenshin. Inuyasha just gave me this feeling like "Christ, didn't they kill that guy yet?!" while Dragon Ball Z gives that "Okay, now what stupid, 'uber-powerful' alien is going to pop up and try to destroy the world, yet again?" feeling.

But that's just my opinion. :) Also, I could be very wrong about Vash's scars as I honestly don't know anything about gun-shot scars. I just calls 'em as I sees 'em.
