It's the first SERIES, not season 1. It was an ENTIRELY different Yuugiou series. The series that we watch here is called Yuugiou: DUEL MONSTERS, because it is an entirely different series.

Alll i gotta say about it is: ....Kaiba had green hair....Oo

For starters colouring and seiyuu/voice actors. Alot of colouring was done wrong in the first series, such as Green haired Kaiba, (not onyl that, but he had orange eyes too!), a brown eyed Anzu (her eyes now appear to be blue) and green eyed Bakura (his eyes are now brown). Apparently Shizuka made a brief appearance(?) and she had purple hair. (I don't even know if that is her. This site said it was...but I dunno..) There was a different voice acting cast as well Kaiba had Hikaru Midorokawa who is well known for his role as Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi, Heero Yuy from Gundam Wing, Mikage from Shoujo Kakumei Utena (Revolutionary Girl Utena) and was also Ail and Fiorye form sailor Moon and Silva in Shaman King. *restrains from girly squeel - Midorikawa-san is my second favorite seiyuu next to Tomokazu Seki~* Yuugi and Yami were voiced by Megumi Ogata *SQUEEL* who has been well known for her roles as Ikari Shin from Evangelion, Sailor Uranus from Sailor Moon, and a handful of other male roles. The rest fo the names of the cast didn't really reing a bell in my mind...but appartently Jounouchi's voice actor plays Sephiroth in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. (Oo)

Also, there's a slight difference in story. The first series covered the first part of the manga (including Death-T!). Duel Monsters covers everything Pegasus and on. In other words, everything involving Duel Monsters. Duel Monsters also adapted some of the things from the first part of the manga and the series. For example, Yuugi's first encounter with Kaiba in duelmonsters to me was very well done adaption of not only their actual first encounter, but also their duel in Death-T. The duel they had with Yami Bakura, where yuugi co. were all turned into their favorite cards was an adaption of their first encounter with Bakura in the manga and series one, where they were playing a table top RPG and Bakura transfered their souls into their figures.

Also...I guess I can point out Miho. Miho was not in Duel Monsters. She had a short appearance in the manga and seemed to be more known as 'Ribbon' and Honda was hopelessly in love with her. but in sereis one she had a much bigger role (and seemed much less shy!) and was even involved in aforementioned Bakura Table top RPG. She never made it into Duel Monsters, which is kinda sad cause there's not enough female characters in that show. --

    So yeah...that's about it.

    :dizzy2:

All the Japanesee games confuse me. I'm more used to the Englsih names.

As for the first season, that would be when they have to fight in Pegasus' island right?

The Shadow Games would be when they fight Marik, which is by the way, the best season ever! After that it just seems to go on and on forever, and it looks like practically everyone hated the Pharaoh in the past since they're all trying to kill him, or take his soul. Poor guy, eh?

Sorry for saying season it was my mistake. I usually think of things as seasons not series. IE; Big O and Big O season 2 (not Big O 2)

    No.

And here, it'll help if you learn the japanese names...because they're a lot better than the dub names.
Joey - Katsuya Jounouchi (goes by Jounouchi)
Tristan - Hiroto Honda (goes by Honda)
    Tea - Anzu Mazaki
Bakura - Ryou Bakura (goes by Bakura...no change except for prounociation of Ryou ><)
    Marik - Malik Ishtar
    Ishizu - Isis Ishtar
    Odeon - Rishid
    Mai - Mai Kujaku
    Pegasus - Pegasus J. Crawford
Duke - Ryuuji Otogi (goes by Otogi)

And i can't think of any more right more Oo

    Anywho...

This happened BEFORE duelist kingdom. It's the first SERIES.
Yami used to play Shadow Games against his enemies. They're be a penalty game to the loser after each one. These resulted in people either dying or going insane.
That was what Yu-Gi-Oh was originally about.

Thanks! That's gonna help on dubbing sometimes. It IS a bit more confusing for me beacuse i'm used to the English names, but i'll get used to it.

Regarding the story, that makes it better than it already is.

It was kinda hard getting used to those names when I started to read the manga (the one that was published in Shonen Jump from the begining but now skipped all the duelist king and battle city stuff) but I got used to it quickly and now that is the name I am used to.

The names are kind of nice to know. I honestly call everyone by the japanese name since I got used to it. Watching the anime and reading the manga.

I personnal liked the first series. (Don't want FR to yell) It is what got me interested in it. I think because there is a little darker side to it is what got me hooked.

Why would I yell? o_O The first series just disturbs me a little that's all...I mean...who actually thinks green haired Kaiba looks GOOD? Oo
When you love a man for that long, to see him in that condition disturbs you to your very bone. ><

You gotta admit, the animation in Series 1 was craptacular. Then, Takahashi's art when he started YGOwasn't all that hot either, lol XD

EDIT: oh wait, I get it, you used series, instead of season, not wanting me to yell about it. XD lol, I see.

    Yep you got it. :D

I still like to watch it no matter how poor it is. I think it shows a difference on the anime. To bad I cannot get all of the episodes. I have like 11 episodes only. Thanks to animesuki.
