Not if you feel he can do anything, which I don't. God can't create a cubic sphere, but I don't believe God can create paradoxes, so it doesn't change anything.
Thing is there are two definitions of omnipotence - the ability to do ANYTHING, and the ability to do anything logically possible within their power.
Remember guys, watch the ad-hominems, you're veering close to them again. Overall, good debate though, I approve - Ark
This is a lot of discussion on such a simple question. Myself, I do believe God exists. I don't really question why or even how, I just know and believe in him and that's all there is to it.
see, it isn't the idea of 'god' that I dislike. it's ideas like the one expressed above.. blind faith without thinking for yourself.. we have minds to reason things out and think for ourselves but so many refuse to use them.
It's because humans almost have to believe in a higer power, and they just don't question their faith. There must be some meaning to life itself, why anything ever starting existing eons ago... and so people say "God created everything." It's nice to believe. It answers questions we can't fathom and creates a sense of security...
no.. we don't have to believe in anything. Quite a lot of us get by without.. and it may be nice to believe but that doesn't make it any more foolish.. the fact that it is so widespread may make people feel more secure in their beliefs and not challenge them but.. the ignorance can't last forever.
The reason I question this is because I dont want to live my whole life believing in something that might not be true. Its like living in false hope or reachin for something that wasnt even there in the first place. All that could be for nothing....and that is the only reason i question it.....
Not to afend on any-one agin but, don't you at lese wonder whare God came from, I mean so who made him whare did he came from? Not to sound like I'm repeting myself but, in Shinto, they beleave that when some-one in the family dies they became a kami(God) that protect them, to me that make a little bit more sense.
My idea of God is an entity of the highest conciousness. I think we are sent to Earth(many times) to learn how to reach that level so we can be one with God. I belive God had a hand in the Creation, but I think he more like added the ingredients for life and let them go their own way. I'm sure he/she gives nudges when we need help. Remember this, God did not write the Bible, men did.
No....they dont. lol...actually i do that alot as well  .... Anywayz imagine....if there is no god ( other than this debate never takin place ) Imagine we were in the imagination of another....imagine that this was all a dream.... OWW...im imagining too much.
This is a question that i myself have often asked? It's actually kind of weird to find somebody that has been thinking the same things. It's hard to think about where he came from. Did he have a maker? Did he just suddenly appeared? I thought about these kind of things for a little while, then my head got all sore from thinking about it. It's just to much to ask and the fact that we will never know unless we ask God himself doesn't help.
Maybe God created himself. Personally I believe in God but I don't think any one religion is more valid than an other one. I think that people should read religious texts and form their own opinions about religion. The most organized beliefs I have about God come from Stranger in a Strange Land.
Because some people actually BELIEVE that or that God always existed, I ask - why is it impossible to believe the universe either created itself or always existed to begin with?
Of course God exists! If you dont believe it, how do you expect that we got here? Sure it hurts your brain to try to imagine how God came into existance himself, but simply the thought that He's there is hard to believe-- sometimes it's hard for me to believe that WE really exist!
