He certainly has carved a niche in the world for himself. I used to be a real fan of his stuff (early to mid 90s) - back when he was easily recognized by his mustauche, glasses, and hawaiian t-shirts. I've just out of the loop since then, I suppose.

What really cheezes me off is all the sub-par stuff out there on the internet that gets his name slapped on it just because it is parody and assumed to be his.

Not knocking you or anything, Chejo, but only two of your listed songs are actually done by Weird Al - Gump and Another One Rides the Bus.

Internet Sandman is credited to Johnny Crass, and the other two are too dirty in nature.

Weird Al tends to stay away from the dirty side of things, and will go extreme, but not as far as many internet songs seem to suggest (bearing his title).

His albums usually contain a fair amount of original stuff accompanying the parodies, but the latter is what he is usually identified and more memorably noted for.

I must say the Polkas are masterpieces. :)

The Love Hina AMV of Horoscope for Today is great, you should check it out! Ohhh, and the music video for Eat It is classic.. "you're not fat you're not fat!!"

I only own the food album though I've heard the rest and love em'. It seems that most song parodies out there are given the title "Weird Al" as if it's a genre of music. Even the Star Wars Gansta Rap was titled as being Weird Al's song.

    • Smells Like Nirvana - Weird Al
    • Livin' La Vida Yoda - Todd Downing (Also a shorter version was done by Jimmy Fallon on SNL)
    • Bimbo No. 5 - The Woody Show
    • Please Don't Wear That Thong - Unknown (thought to be either be a Jimmy Fallon Song, or from Mad TV)

LOL, far from it. The guy is definately great, and I am a fan, but not quite on a high level.

I just keep tabs on which parodies are actually his, and which ones are other artists. A lot of the "Weird Al fakes" also frequently get the "Dr. Demento" titling, which is offbase most of the time.

To clarify, LIKE A SURGEON IS WEIRD AL!

I have an old VHS of some of his videos, and it's on the tape.

I saw the man in concert in Windsor years ago. I must have been only ten or eleven then. That was a great show.
Sadly, I haven't heard anything from Poodle Hat, since my friend who has it wouldn't lend it to me.

"The Brady Bunch" was a classic just because it's a parody of The Safety Dance. And of course, Albuquerque is great too.

    By the way,
"I'd rather rip my heart out of my rib cage with my barehands and then throw it on the floor and stomp on it until I die ... then spend one more minute with you.":p

I got Poodle Hat not too long ago, and oh God, it's great. Ode To A Superhero (parody of Piano Man, about Spider-Man) is definitely capable of rivaling his Star Wars song. Not to mention when I played it at work, Genius In France got a laugh out of everyone. By far, though, my favorite is his knock on Bob Dylan, titled (appropriately enough) Bob. Anyways, anyone who likes Weird Al, definitely check this out.
